Neighborhood Housing Services of Austin (NHSA) is a non-profit developer of affordable housing for low- to moderate-income familes and individuals. Since being founded in 1992, NHSA has built and sold 70 new homes to first-time homebuyers in the Austin area, many of whom would not have otherwise had the opportunity to purchase a home.

NHSA's mission is to "expand opportunities for home ownership, provide transitional living to those in need of assistance, assist in the reduction of crime, preserve the character of low income neighborhoods, and engage in community projects for the benefit of citizens."

NHSA is also currently providing up to $40,000 in down-payment assistance to qualifying first-time homebuyers, which takes the form of a second, low-interest mortgage. Down payment assistance is available on a case by case basis.
